Biography: Michael Giroux P.Eng., MBA
Michael is the President of the Canadian Wood Council, a national industry association representing manufacturers of Canadian wood products used in construction. Canadian Wood Council membership includes lumber producers who are members of the Maritime Lumber Bureau.
The Council’s work is focused on ensuring that wood products and building systems are fairly represented in Canadian and U.S. building codes and standards as well on education and market development. The Council also provides technical and management support for demonstration projects the latest of which include two tall massive timber buildings – one in Vancouver (19-storeys) and the other in Quebec City (13-storeys).
These topic areas are familiar ground for Michael, whose diverse work portfolio includes time with the National Research Council of Canada, the Cement Association of Canada and International Building Systems Limited wherein Michael was co-owner.
Supporting Michael’s career is a strong and diverse professional network and an educational background that includes a Bachelor of Engineering from Carleton University and an MBA from the University of Ottawa.
